Book Recommendations on the Aura from Rev. Susan Snowden

BARBARA BRENNAN

Hands of Light: A Guide to Healing Through the Human Energy Field

Hands of Light has wonderful illustrations, demonstrating techniques to work with energy and the auric field. It's a great visual reference. Barbara has been pivotal in mainstreaming the idea of energy work as a valid modality, developing what she calls Brennan Healing Science and opening an accredited school to teach it.

From the Amazon website: "Hands of Light: A Guide to Healing Through the Human Energy Field is a scientist's look at the field of bioenergetic healing, offering specific techniques towards expanding perceptual tools of healing, seeing auras, understanding psychodynamics and the human energy field, and spiritual healing.

Trained as a physicist and psychotherapist, Brennan has spent the last 15 years studying the human energy field and working as a healer. Hands of Light goes beyond conventional, objective knowledge while retaining scientific clarity

It details a study of the human energy field and how it is intimately connected to a person's health and well being and contains essential information for anyone involved in healing and conscious health care, including people seeking to heal themselves."

Light Emerging: The Journey of Personal Healing

From the Amazon website: "Research physicist and founder of her own school, Brennan is a leading New Age healer. She provides here a useful introduction to the scientific background behind her laying-on-of-hands technique.

Brennan offers an explanation of her healing perspective and its use in conjunction with medical therapy, the stages and importance of self-care, and healing relationships through auric field interaction and higher spiritual realities.

She encourages taking personal responsibility for one's health through a holistic approach and consultation with nontraditional specialists as well as a physician. This self-help book may become a New Age classic. Highly recommended."

VICKY WALL

Vicky Wall, a British pharmacist and chiropodist, has developed an intriguing system she calls Aura-Soma. There is a local teacher, Carol McKnight, prominent in the field, and I am friends with several of her students.

I've been witness to the rapid positive transformation in each of them as they interact with the practice. Somehow, Aura-Soma seems to be an accelerant for personal and spiritual growth. Michael was gifted a bottle for some Dreaming difficulties he was experiencing and the problem cleared up immediately.

It is a relatively new discipline, and as such, it seems there is room for individual practitioners to add to the body of knowledge and help shape and chart the course of the modality. That said, it seems to be tightly controlled by the governing group, Aura-Soma Products LTD.

The only down side, from my perspective, is a sense that the training, consultations, and products are exorbitantly priced. By being cost prohibitive, access is denied to some who might really benefit from it.

Aura-Soma: Self-Discovery through Color

From the Amazon website: "Aura-Soma is an innovative approach to soul therapy that relies on bottles of dual-colored liquids that incorporate plant extracts, essential oils, and the energies and extracts of precious and semiprecious stones. The energetic properties found in the liquids interact with the individual's aura to help support equilibrium in the body, mind, and spirit.

The practice of Aura-Soma was developed by Vicky Wall, who drew upon the mystical traditions of the Kabbalah and the medicinal and healing qualities of living plants that she learned from her father. Clairvoyant from childhood, she was able to perceive the subtle energies surrounding an individual. As an adult, this clairvoyant ability was amplified as her physical sight diminished and was eventually lost.

Having been an apprentice to a pharmacist in an earlier phase of her life, her understanding of the significance of combining substances resurfaced as she created the first dual-colored Equilibrium bottle. At first she did not know the significance of what she had discovered, but it soon became clear that the oils, extracts, and essences contained in these bottles had remarkable qualities to facilitate perception and self remembering."

MIKE BOOTH AND CAROL MCKNIGHT

The Aura-Soma Sourcebook: Color Therapy for the Soul

As mentioned, Carol McKnight teaches locally and Vicky Wall, upon her death in 1991, passed ownership of Aura-Soma Products LTD to Mike Booth.

From the Amazon website: "In The Aura-Soma Sourcebook authors Mike Booth and Carol McKnight detail the origins, holistic understanding, and consciousness-mirroring effects of each of the 104 equilibrium combinations.

The practice of Aura-Soma is initially based on a person’s selection of four Equilibrium bottles. The choice of bottles and the sequence in which they are chosen provide keys to understanding past difficulties and mirror the need and potential for growth in one’s consciousness.

The book includes full-color spreads that juxtapose the colors of the bottle with dramatic photographs that depict the energetic essence of each bottle and that evoke the healing energy of the natural environment. The authors also explain where to apply the essences, which chakra in the subtle anatomy will be affected, and what areas of personal growth can be addressed."
